HOPES AND DREAMS
 
Lost in thought still contemplating 
Decisions to make no hesitating
Life’s an illusion that’s for sure 
Only here once there’s no encore
Pockets full of endless dreams
Each one worthy or so it seems
What’s the secret my master plan
Stay forever young like Peter Pan

Seeing you magpie
climbing the ash tree again
your oil slick wings flash against skies
freshly mottled lime green
I saw you building your dome shaped nest
never stopping for a break
or a rest, by your ethic I'm impressed

Blowing in the Wind
 
The wind, the wind, it blows so wild,  
Her curls dance soft in morning light.  
Through tangled vines she runs, my child,  
Her cheeks aglow with crimson flight.  
 
"Run fast," she cries, "before he finds,
The thorns will scratch, but still I flee.  
The rose that bloomed behind our blinds  
Is now a curse upon me."

Dry aged steaks, porter in imperial glass
Two peacock feathers looking worse for wear
St. Louis haint flung down flight of spiral stair
A shell bracelet tacked, forgot on the wall
How many entendres for season of fall
Pour over coffee an hourglass does make 
Recluse and widow, opposite on lake

She spent her life within a dream
In search of lasting fame
But when she failed to make the team
She chose the path of shame.
 
To quench the thirst to reach her goal
And failures to destroy
She lost her values and her soul 
But never tasted joy
