A few reviews:
This slim, (28-page) book is full of love and hope, expressed in poetry that reveals the poet/author's admiration of God's creation. It enhances my enjoyment of nature as a reader and left me infused with hope. The book's positivity and poetic sensibility are a tribute to MJ Reynolds' skill as a poet. His selection of photos to frame the poems also works to make time spent with this book an uplifting experience, a gentle respite from today's chaotic and unkind world. I love the way he finds beauty in every season and in the instances of family life and his own reflections that he shares.
My favorite poems, going from the front of the book to the back, are "signs of winter." I love the way MJ speaks of snowflakes--as a January baby, I'm very partial to snowflakes! "summer rain" reminds us that weather can require a reordering of lives and is not always a simple watering of the earth. Reynolds and I both agree that autumn often seems the "perfect season" as that poem title, and as the words of "ode to fall" suggest, I love the colors. The brief haiku "harmony" is the best description of falling leaves I have heard in a long time, and for that it ranks first among my favorites! "the wave" is a heartfelt dip into the peace of a walk along the ocean, with wave activity ‘kissing the tips of my toes’…
Time spent with this book is time well spent. I am honored to own a copy and you will be too.
I’ve had the pleasure of reading some of Maurice Reynolds poetry over the years and consider it an honor to review his latest book. After retiring, it was hard for me to relax; I felt like I had to always stay busy. But after reading this book, it reminded me that retirement is not about being unproductive, but enjoying every day as it comes, and each season as a new discovery of God’s creations. I especially love his poem “the wave”. I imagined myself there on the beach while the winds and waves brushes up against my skin while I’m lying there taking it all in. This beautiful poem is an example of how I should relax and enjoy each moment.
Another one of my favorite poems in the book is “shaded-tree memories”. It reminds me of my youth, growing up as a little girl in the South surrounded by nature in all its splendor. This small, but delightful book is a work of art so elegantly written to enlighten and entice its readers to enjoy and discover nature in its most perfect form as God created it to be, filled with simplicity and serenity. Thank you, Mr. Reynolds, for sharing this magnificent book.

You don’t need a calendar to tell the dalliance and the passage of the seasons—you need seasons of wonder: nature by MJ Reynolds.
This offering of more than two dozen poems celebrates the seasons and welcomes the beauties of nature. The seasons come and go, slowly or quickly, as you wish, but mostly they linger like the embrace of these poems. Read them aloud. Do it again. Share them with your friends.
Indulge yourself with “quality time galore.” The poems are written in lower case, in a convenient style—they’re an invitation to be casually thrilled and informed and transported to quiet realms of natural glory.
Take your time to savor the poems in seasons of wonder: nature. “the wave” invites the reader to stand high on the beach and grasp the transformation of the mighty crest, again and again. Read “intricate” and “summer silence” and “ode to fall” and “the perfect season.” On almost every page you’ll find so many of the best words, and carefully named colors to tell you every flavor, every smell, every vivid vision of the seasons—“a rainbow of beautiful nourishment.” Maybe you’ll wish we had more seasons.
If you wonder how “barren” and “beautiful” can describe the same experience, try the poem “pristine,” it would be a shame not to. Read these poems more than once.

A truly sumptuous reading experience wrought with that characteristic sense of wonder and perceptiveness which makes the writing of MJ Reynolds such a distinct joy to behold and bask in. Presented gorgeously with colored backdrops the words and imagery, structured by season in the highly constructive eastern tradition, all but leap from the page, clasp readers by the hand and usher into these captivating experiences and evocatively communicated vignettes.
If you admire the uplifting, reflective brand of poetry showcased so magnificently in the author's remarkable long running, world renowned publication Creative Inspirations, you will certainly appreciate and savor this tight, eloquently executed collection and its thoughtful, sublime contents. A feast for the senses which wonderfully continues the naturalistic school of arts and literature that does proud the memory of a rich lineage from Whitman to Frost and will also dazzle enthusiasts of micropoetry and Japanese inflected methods of engaging with time and the elements which signal its passage! An exhilarating book I so encourage you to seek out and meditate upon...
And a huge thank you for the two beautiful copies of seasons of wonder: nature. What a glorious collection of poetry and you designed it so perfectly, with the cover image being its own quiet radiant poem. I love how the imagery supports your poetry — poetry that honors the shifting energy of each season, honors the reader’s soul, AND honors our Loving God. I am especially moved by "end-of-summer memory," "mirage (great title)," and "intricate." ALL the poems resonate with me. I bet you truly LOVED working on this. Your voice comes through every line.

I enjoyed reading "seasons of wonder: nature" by Maurice J. Reynolds. I like that the book is written in simple language, nothing complicated, nothing fancy, but natural. The poems are so beautiful and little gems of nature. It is a good book for a good mood to read with a cup of tea in a rainy day near the heating stove. I recommend it. A few of my favorite poems include:
-signs of winter -accents of spring -summer serenade -ode to fall -shaded-tree memories -butterfly awe -rustic views -the wave -a good day
This collection of finely-crafted poems recreates the serenity and beauty of each season.
The poems are succinct and well-written. The collection is productively illustrated. The accompanying photos perfectly enhance the poet's pen. The book is overwhelmingly positive with each fresh image imprinting upon the reader's psyche and allows one to experience the actual vision only to be awed by it. Once read in its entirety, one feels an optimistic confidence in God's natural landscape. Blended images of snow, ice, frozen tundra, leaves of a pear tree, earth's gradual thawing, glacier carved mountains, warmth of summer and multitude of colors during autumn combine to move successfully through seasonal progression.
I enjoyed all twenty eight poems by M. J. Reynolds, but my personal favorites were "accents of spring," "sentiment of remembrance," "reflections: a mid-summer's night treat," "summer rain," "summer silence," "the perfect season," "delights of autumn," "autumn twilight," "intricate," "shaded-tree memories," and "the wave."
I would highly recommend this book to both poetry and nature lovers everywhere.
